Park in the large lot at the back of the park & meet at the trailhead / sign. (Located at the front of that large lot.)
Take your first steps into the New Year with us! So much fun we’re gonna double it! For our New Year Hike this year we will start with the Rock Quarry Trail. After we finish that, if you’re up for it, join us on the Lime Kiln Trail! — Be advised, the Trail Among The Trees is closed due to flooding & maintenance. —
Rock Quarry Trail is an easy end of moderate, mostly wide, 2.5ish mile trail, made up of gravel & dirt. A gorgeous forest, cool rock formations, some hills & cool little caves to enjoy on our way. This place is my go-to when I’m in a hurry or the weather is gnarly & I still wanna hike in the woods.
Wear weather appropriate clothing & comfortable hiking shoes made for rugged terrain. Bring plenty of drinking water & maybe a snack. — Cell service is spotty at best here. Sometimes I can connect, sometimes not. Phone calls seem to go through but not so much texts or internet schtuffs. — Sometimes there’s a portable toilet, sometimes not. Pretty sure the park bathrooms will be closed for the season. Plan accordingly.
REMINDER : ALL HIKES ARE WEATHER PERMITTING. {THIS INCLUDES HEAT, RAIN, CRAZY WIND, COLD & SNOW.} Weather report says we can enjoy a cloudy day with a high of 50. We shall see if we are so lucky! Hoping for a fun & beautiful day!
DOGGOS : Dogs are welcome on this hike! They must be current on all vaccinations. Please follow trail + park rules regarding your pets | leashing | waste.
WAIVER : Friendly Reminder! If you plan on coming along for a hike this coming THURSDAY please be sure to take a quick moment to sign the waiver! Thank youuu!!!

AFTER WE HIKE ROCK QUARRY WE’LL HEAD ON OVER TO LIME KILN.
The parking lot for the Lime Kiln Trail is very small & can fit mayyybe 6-8 cars, max. Since it is First Day Hike, I’m kinda anticipating the lot to be full. It’s a popular trail, & for good reason. If there IS space in the trailhead lot, we’ll park there & meet by the Lime Kiln trailhead sign / kiln area. If not we can find some spots nearby & carpool a little ways.
Rocks, roots & elevation on this rugged & strenuous 3 mile loop featuring a creek, caves, rock formations & a giant historic lime kiln. Expect to earn it, expect to sweat!!! Like the Rock Quarry trail, there is a lot of rock & gravel. There are steep & narrow areas to traverse with lots of roots & uneven terrain; be so careful. There will be a tiny bit of scrambling/climbing.
Due to the strenuous nature of some sections & with all the moisture we’ve had lately, consider bringing hiking poles & having prior hiking experience over rough terrain. We’ll take it slow & enjoy a few breaks.
